I chose Computer Science as a career at 12, largely to avoid a life composing essays.
But software developers claim Code::isPoetry();
And perhaps there is truth in that statement, as my language of choice evolved - from PHP, to C# and then to the natural English language.
While I was great at barking out instructions to a computer, I was also drawn to laying out words that evoked emotion and imagery, stringing together sentences that had byte. My interest included mining data with an algorithm and generating a report, and a curiosity towards the human condition and telling their story.
Since the advent of journalism in my life, I have had photos, videos or words published in the Toronto Star, Hamilton Spectator, Mississauga Life Magazine, Mississauga News, Oakville Beaver, Milton Champion, Burlington Post and Flamborough Review.
When I'm not hammering away on the keyboard, I'm strumming on my ukulele, reading a book or weaving through a gauntlet of fists and feet at Muay Thai.
And I refuse to allow acquired skills to wither. My prose->includes('code');
I also do web software development, graphic design and marketing. You can find my other professional work at ID3NTITY.COM
